You're probably looking at these and thinking, "Brie, it's not autumn anymore ... and it hasn't been for awhile." Well, you're right! I have been incredibly busy and am just now getting around to blogging all of the fabulous fall sessions I was able to do. Here's the Tetrick family, your typical super cute family that likes to play, throw leaves, and have tickle fights. We did photos 2 years ago, and they decided they needed to document their little family again since the kids are growing like weeds! Stephanie and I love taking on new clients, but we especially appreciate return clients! I had a great time with the kids, trying to find the prettiest spots around the orchard, picking out awesome pumpkins, apples, and leaves, and being goofy. Thanks for asking me to come out and play with you guys!

The weather was still nice enough this past weekend to squeeze in a family session. I've photographed Mr. Nicholas several times in his little life, and these were his 2 year (more like 2.5 year) photos. He also brought his new little cousin along to get some photos together. Coxhall Gardens has a really cute children's garden area you should check out!

We had the wonderful opportunity to photograph Matt & Jay's wedding. Both the reception and ceremony were at the Community Life Center in Indianapolis. As you will see in the photos, their wedding was very unique and soooo fun! I don't think we've seen a wedding with so much dancing! This bride and groom know how to have a great time! Plus, they just have an amazing love for each other. Thanks, Matt & Jay, for sharing your day with us!

Brittany wanted to go to Falls Park in Pendleton for her senior photo session. It's a bit of a drive for most Indianapolis folk but it is WORTH it! We probably went on the prettiest day of the whole year, too! I was also very excited when Brittany wanted to wade in the water, sit dangerously close to the waters edge, and lay in the leaves. Those things are right up my alley and made for a perfect session. Thanks, Brittany!

Due to an illness, Katie & Chris' original photographer wasn't able to attend their wedding and reception. I was asked to step in the day before and happily accepted. They were married at Beck Chapel (site of one of my best friend's weddings on campus at my alma mater, Indiana University, and also the site of my first wedding to photograph), with their reception at the perfectly fabulous Scholars Inn Gourmet Cafe & Wine Bar. I'm not quite sure how I managed to attend IU for four years and never visit this lovely establishment. The food and service was exceptional (in my opinion). However, I was also really hungry after shooting for a few hours. :-P Katie & Chris were both super relaxed and were able to enjoy their wedding day (a trait I believe they possess as they are both fifth grade teachers). I'm so happy I was able to be there to capture the special moments of this wonderful autumn day in Bloomington! Congratulations to you both; I hope you're enjoying married life!

"Iron Man Mike" | party! | 10.8.11

Let me first start off by saying that I have such mixed emotions while writing this. I'm a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and was asked to photograph a party. It was up at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. I'm happy that I was able to be there and capture all of the fun at Michael's party, but I'm also sad. Michael has AML - from what I know to be a very aggressive form of Leukemia - and will be an angel in Heaven soon. He's such a strong and caring little boy! His litter brother, Robert, was there and you can tell he still looks up to him very much. They had Michael's favorite pizza, Amore in Zionsville, and he ate at least 3 pieces I think. Pretty good! He also got to choose the first piece from his Iron Man cake (he chose the head - right in the middle, haha). There was a magician/clown there to do a few tricks, plus a team of airbrush tattoo artists. The kids looked so cute with their airbrushed masks on! They also had laser tag that could be played inside or outdoors on the playground. That was a huge it! Everyone was in good spirits and I think Michael (and everyone else) had a really great day.

Cierra + Joe | post-wedding session | 9.18.11

A few months ago, I took Cierra and Joe's engagement photos up at Cierra's grandmother's farm in northern Indiana. Well, the farm has been sold, so she really wanted to have a session up there before the new owners took possession. I remembered how beautiful it was, so I was in! Their wedding day was a little rushed (early reception), so they didn't really have a chance to take some newlywed couple photos. I was happy to remedy that! This couple is very near and dear to my heart. Cierra is one of my best friends, and I had the privilege of being her maid of honor in her wedding. Since I was in the wedding, Stephanie and I weren't the photographers. However, (this won't surprise anyone that knows me) I just couldn't help myself. I just had to take a few photos! So, here are the photos from their actual wedding day, back in July. If you're a bride on a budget, talk to Cierra! She did so much with not a lot of money and it looked fabulous! This couple is just SO in love! There were a few bumps in getting them married, but nothing could stop them (or their positive attitudes)! Stephanie and I (along with Steph's sister-in-law, bridesmaid Liz) had a wonderful day with this bridal party. The Radisson has a great staff that worked with Carolyn to make sure everything was taken care of, and even carried their dinner plates for them to avoid a spill! Great customer service in my opinion. The whole day was filled with family members in from far away places, ready to assist in any way possible. It's wonderful to see such a great family supporting a couple!

Tom and his parents used to be my awesome neighbors until we moved. Luckily, they remembered Milestone Photography and contacted me to take some senior photos of Tom. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
All of our favorite people in the same location celebrating together; we had SO much fun! We also loved our casual atmosphere; we heard from so many that people had a great time being casual and relaxed.

What made you laugh?
My dad tripping over my veil. (Jana, we cringed for you!)

What made you cry?
My dad trying to tell me a joke just before we walked down the aisle.

What was your favorite detail?
My necklace; one of my favorite pictures is the of the back of my necklace through my veil. I love it! AND my pink shoes :)

Favorite photo?
I have a few. There is one with us in the alley with Jason whispering in my ear and I'm laughing. We also like the photo of us walking down the alley together; people say it is a symbolic picture of us starting our life together. And of course, I like the detail picture of my necklace and veil. Jason and the guys like the one of them around "Christopher Columbus," a.k.a. St. Roch. Another--great timing a photo of me and Jason just after my dad tripped on my veil.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?
The race? We didn't go anywhere ;)

Any advice for future brides and/or grooms?
Have fun; don't forget to take a minute to stop and take it all in. I didn't do that enough.

Preferred vendors:
We had friends & family do it all...well the food & flowers. Our flowers were amazing! I couldn't have asked for anything better from a professional. I love the fact they all came from friends & family's flower beds & gardens. I'm sure she would do it again if there was another bride on a budget!

Any comments for us or for blog readers?
Put your beer down! I had too many pictures with a glass in my hand; it makes it hard to have the impromptu photos printed & framed. Have fun!

We went up to Atlanta, Indiana to take Hannah's senior photos at her family's beautiful farm. Her and her family had to get up pretty early to drive there from Terre Haute for our start time of 9:30am. What troopers! It was a beautiful day and I loved the scenery. Have a great senior year, Hannah!

Brie took Courtney and Chris' engagement photos back in the snowy winter and now they're off to live in sunny Florida! Before the happy couple left for Florida, they had a lovely wedding here in Indianapolis. Their wedding party was a really fun group of people and helped make the day wonderful.

Courtney's little brother was soooo cute!

The maid/matron of honor (plus a friend) put on a cute skit as their speech!

They used our photo booth at their reception (oh, I think the Harry Potter movie came out around the time of their wedding)

Adam and Mel are close friends of ours; Adam and Stephanie are siblings! :) To make things even better, Melanie and Jennie (Jennie & Daniel's wedding) are sisters. We all went to high school together, so the whole wedding party and guest list was full of familiar faces! As Stephanie was a bridesmaid, we recruited Simone to be the second photographer for Adam and Mel's big day.

Cierra and Joe were engaged back in March, and we'd been waiting for spring to arrive! A beautiful day finally came around, and we went to Cierra's grandmother's farm in Attica for the afternoon. Lucky for us, there is a HUGE barn that sheltered us from the storm that rolled through! It was lovely to have the property to ourselves and explore it at our own pace.

I am beyond excited to be MOH for my dear friend Cierra and celebrate her big day with Joe! You're going to be such a gorgeous bride, and I'm going to stop talking about it before I start crying!

We've known Erica since we were all in high school together. She is going to marry Tim on Wednesday on a beach in North Carolina! Doesn't that sound wonderful? They are even going to get into the ocean with their wedding attire on! Although we don't get to photograph the festivities in North Carolina, we did get the opportunity to photograph both of them all dressed up here in Indy. This was a great idea because we got lots of photos of them in their wedding outfits without all of the stress and time constraints of an actual wedding day. Dianna & Kyle | wedding | 4.16.11

Dianna and Kyle met while attending Rose-Hulman in Terre Haute. They fell in love on campus, and decided to return to be married in the beautiful White Chapel. Since Stephanie was very pregnant, we decided it would be smart to bring in someone else to cover for her. Our friend, Joe, from VanDonohue Photography stepped in to help us!

I was really nervous since we were having a LOT of rain, and it was scheduled to rain before, during, and after the ceremony. Thankfully, Dianna and Kyle were fantastic and just went along with any ideas we had as we did our best to keep them out of the rain. They didn't let it get them down in the least. After we did a shorter-than-normal post-ceremony session, we headed over to their reception.

Their guests were hilarious! Everyone was on the dance floor at one point in the evening. Even the happy couple had a hard time tearing themselves away for a few more photos during the reception. We had a great time!

Jessie and Steve hired us for their outdoor July 24th ceremony. We weren't really sure what to expect at first, but after talking to Jessie more, we knew it'd be memorable and beautiful. Here's the original post from their wedding. We asked Jessie to answer a few questions about her wedding, so that future brides and blog readers could hear the details of their special day. Plus, I always want to hear the bride and groom's take on the day!

What was your favorite part of your wedding day? (or top 3)
Seeing my dad for the first time before walking down the aisle was not just one of my favorite parts of my wedding day; It was one of my favorite parts of my life. I'll never forget it. Another moment that comes to mind is riding to the ceremony site with my friends Brettani and Kim. We laughed all the way and I just kept yelling, "I'm getting married in five minutes." Me and Steve's first dance is also something I'll never forget. Nobody else mattered. It was a perfect way to start our life together.

What made you laugh?

When we had to move the dress and make-up preparation to a public restroom because my mom's cabin was too hard for everyone to find. I never thought I'd put my wedding dress on in a public bathroom, but it really showed me that the people you're with and the feelings you have are what's important - not where you are. Also, when our cupcakes melted in the heat, I couldn't help but laugh. Of all the days we could have chosen!

What made you cry?

Watching my brother take my mom and mother-in-law's arms to walk them down the aisle, when my dad asked me to hold his hand instead of take his arm, and hearing Steve read his vows to me (no matter how quiet he was).

What was your favorite detail?

I absolutely loved my bouquet and the fact that I could put my grandmother's locket on it with photos of both of my grandparents inside. It was almost like I got to hold their hands all day.

What was your husband's favorite moment?

Steve most enjoyed the times we got to sneak away for pictures. He's not one for crowds so the time with just me and him and you girls really helped him unwind and be comfortable. I think he enjoyed the laid back cornhole too. :)

Favorite photo(s)?

It was a photo taken right after Steve and I got married. We turned around. I'm smiling shyly and he is looking at me smiling. It shows how proud and anxious we were at the same time and captures the moment perfectly. Also, a photo was taken of my mom and dad kissing before the ceremony has become one of my family's most prized possessions and something we'll cherish forever.

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

We went to Denver on a white water rafting trip. We're already planning the next one for our one year anniversary.

Any advice for future brides and/or grooms?

We didn't have a lot of time to plan. It was a short engagement and we'd initially planned on eloping so we didn't have time to get caught up in details, but even the things we did get caught up on didn't turn out the way we planned. My only advice would be to go into your wedding remembering what's really important - you're marrying the love of your life. No amount of flowers, lace or fancy food can replace that!

Milestone Photography, of course! :) My bouquet was put together by Bud & Bloom Florist in Mooresville, IN. They are resonalbly priced, kind, and created a bouquet that I loved with hardly any direction.

Favorite blog to read while planning?

apracticalwedding.com - it reminds brides to not fit into a mold but create something that represents who they and their fiancé are. It was a great source of support and DIY ideas!

Any comments for blog readers?

Working with Milestone really made my day special and the photos still bring back such great memories. We're very lucky.

About two minutes after Stephanie told me that she's pregnant, I knew we would get to have a really fun maternity session. Since we're photography partners, in addition to close friends, I knew she'd be completely honest with what she wanted. Michelle and Dave chose to have their wedding in Lebanon at the Lumiere Resort, and it was a lovely, intimate gathering. To signify their new blended family, her three daughters poured different colored sands into a heart vase, followed by Michelle and Dave. Since it was an intimate setting, we could all hear their vows being said to each other, which isn't something I'm used to at all. It's so nice to hear a couple expressing their love and saying their vows! After the ceremony and family pictures, we headed outside where I tried my best to keep the bride from freezing to death! She cuddled up with Dave, and that made for some good couple photos. ;) Thank you, Michelle and Dave, for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

Courtney and Chris met while going to Roncalli (our alma mater), and are getting married this summer! They're so lovable and sweet, I know their wedding is going to be a tear-jerker. Chris just got a job in Florida, so they have to spend the next few months apart while Courtney finishes out the school year (she's a teacher). The good news is that we found a date that worked and I was able to meet up with them at Marian University to take these fun snow shots. We just love our 2010 couples! They are all so fun! We traveled all over to photograph couples last year. We visited Purdue, I.U., downtown Indianapolis, and St. Lucia! We probably won't get the opportunity to go back to the Caribbean for a session this year, but we can hope! Congrats to all the couples who got engaged last year or celebrated anniversaries!

This family is hilarious and so much fun! I've known them for a long time, and I love watching their kids grow up. When presented with the opportunity to do their family pictures, I knew we'd have a blast. Stephanie and I were definitely not disappointed there. Running around with 4 kids sure kept us on our toes. I remember at one point, I was holding Charlie with one arm and shooting with the other! :) They're all so sweet, especially Miss Aggie. Who could resist that sweet little face?! I was so excited to meet Jennifer and Wes at the orchard for her maternity pictures! It was an unseasonably warm October day, like in the 90s. They both kept their cool and were so nice! I've never been pregnant, but I can't imagine that it's too easy to get up and down off of the ground, change clothes, and walk all over an orchard in 90+ degree heat! Thank you Jennifer and Wes for being great! I can't wait to meet Mr. Cooper whenever he decides he's ready to come out!

Cierra and her boyfriend, Joe, decided it was time to get some photos of them together along with Joe's daughter, Emma. Cierra and Joe are fun and well...super-cool! Emma is four-years-old and sassy! Well, Kristen and Eric are old pros at this point, haha! If you're a blog follower, you'll recall their first session that we did while in St. Lucia. Since they met, worked together, and fell in loooove in Bloomington, it only seemed appropriate that we take a trip down to our alma mater. (Not that it ever needs an excuse - it's Bloomington in the fall!)

K & E - I can't waaaait to be a CoMoH (co-maid of honor) next June! Your wedding is going to be incredible!

Brittany & Steve - Maternity

I had never done a maternity session before this. When Brittany asked me to do her maternity photos, I was both excited and nervous! However, Brittany and Steve are old friends and also knew what they wanted. We walked around their property and found plenty of spots for pictures. Their doggies, Rugger and Reese, were great. No jumping or licking or anything. I was so happy! Brittany and Steve are just so sweet, and I can't wait to meet Miss Isabella!

I am available for hire to paint pumpkins on your belly, too. ;o)

Grubbs Family

A few weeks ago, Stephanie and I got to go back to Hummel Park for a family session. Jill and I have gone to church together for most of our lives. She got married, had Keegan, and now has baby Kendyl. It was time for pictures! Keegan just learned how to ride his bike, so he did not want to stop! Kendyl was adorable in her little flower hats and pink Uggs. Thanks Kenny & Jill!

Talisha & Jai - maternity

Talisha and Jai are expecting a baby boy in just a few weeks! We visited their nursery for a bit before heading over to Fort Harrison Park. Lucky for me, Talisha knew exactly where she wanted to go...that place is big! She even found a cute roadside pumpkin stand! She even wanted to climb up and sit on a fence! I can't wait to meet the little guy in a few weeks for his newborn session!

Bree - maternity

Bree is a fellow night-shift nurse with me at the hospital. I really wanted to take maternity photos of her and was excited when she decided she wanted some! She's a super cute pregnant lady (as you can see). She also enjoys the fall, so we took a trip to Stuckey Farm for some fall-themed photos. I looove the fall too...leaves, pumpkins, apple picking...pretty much all of it! I think we were the only people there that morning who weren't on a school field trip, though. We even got some apple cider slushies (a common craving she has) which were yummy! We had several nice people ask if we needed help while I was photographing her laying along the side of the road near the soybean field...I guess it probably did look a bit odd. Her little guy or girl is due in just over a week, wow! Congrats Bree!

Adrianne & Nick's Wedding

Adrianne and Nick had a lovely wedding at St. Jude church. Brie and I enjoyed visiting our old stomping grounds (outside Roncalli High School) where we took some group photos after the ceremony. Once the music at the reception got started, the dance floor was a constant party! We took a ton of photos of people being goofy and dancing like crazy (that's what wedding receptions are for, right?). It seemed like everyone had a blast. Congrats Adrianne and Nick!

Kyra - 2 years old!

Helloooo! A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take Miss Kyra's 2 year old pictures. Leah (her momma) got this really cute dress, and we were going for a Shirley Temple vibe. It wasn't difficult to take pictures of Kyra since she's completely ADORABLE! We had a great time, even though it was a little humid outside and made us adults a little sweaty. Thanks Kevin & Leah!
